Student Projects

Two professors, English 110 and GIS students, and a BSC staff member collaborated in the Fall of 2014 to create a story map of BSC. Dr. Jane Schreck's English 110 students choose places on campus to describe. Associate professor of GIS Angie Milakovic's students taught the English 110 students how to record the GPS coordinates of each place. Students then took photographs, working together to choose and refine one description of their places. Meanwhile, video of each location was captured by BSC video production specialist Cole Bernhardt using a quad-copter and video camera. Milakovic used the GPS coordinates, photos, and descriptions and ArcGIS Online software to create a multimedia map of the BSC campus. Finally, BSC student David Sokolofsky composed a soundtrack for the completed story map.
