Concert Choir
Concert Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble of mixed voices that offers opportunities to study and perform a variety of choral literature ranging from early Medieval through notable contemporary works.  This ensemble places emphasis on literature selected from several styles, contexts and cultures, art and folk music traditions, and choral masterworks. This course is designed to reinforce healthy singing technique, refine critical listening and reading skills, and foster a sense of community among its musicians.

BSC Chamber Singers
Chamber Singers are an auditioned performance ensemble designed for the advanced study of choral music. The ensemble is tasked with offering singers and audiences an engaging musical experience. The ensemble performs a wide-variety of music and incorporates enhanced performing elements in addition to traditional choral singing. If you or your organization would like to have the BSC Chamber Singers perform for an event, contact: jason.a.thoms@Bismarckstate.edu.

Chamber Choir - Men's Ensemble
The BSC Men's Ensemble performs music from Renaissance to contemporary, with an emphasis on contrasting musical styles and techniques. This select men's ensemble provides entertainment at a variety of events for the college, including Valentine's Day serenades; and within the community, and on tour. dawn.hagerott@bismarckstate.edu.

Chamber Choir - Women's Ensemble
This select group of singers performs music in a variety of genres, specializing in contemporary music for treble voices. The Women's Ensemble performs at many events, including "Love Without Fear" benefit for the Abused Adult Resource Center, Bismarck Community Prayer Service following the events of September 11, 2001, the ND American Choral Directors Association Showcase Concert, and the ND Humanities Summit. clyde.bauman@bismarckstate.edu.

Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is a performing group open to all BSC students who enjoy expression through instrumental music. It is a non-audition group and performs a wide variety of wind band literature. A concert in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium is held at the end of each semester. For more information e-mail john.darling@bismarckstate.edu.

Chamber Winds
With enrollment in Wind Ensemble comes the opportunity to perform in small chamber groups such as Brass Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble. These groups play at campus functions throughout the semester. For more information about either ensemble, please contact john.darling@bismarckstate.edu.

Jazz Ensemble
BSC Jazz Ensemble is open to select musicians by audition and membership in the Wind Ensemble. Jazz literature from all 20th century styles and improvisation are stressed in rehearsals and performances throughout the year. Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble is open to all members of the BSC Wind Ensemble, regardless of their past experience on percussion. It offers students the opportunity to grow in their rhythmic and musical skills while also learning to play a variety of percussion instruments. String Ensemble
Students in String Ensemble rehearse and perform chamber music written for small groups of string instruments. Music from different musical eras and the subsequent performance practices pertaining to those eras is covered. String Ensemble is open to all students with prior experience in the playing of a stringed instrument, and students encompass all levels of playing experience. Guitar Ensemble
The Guitar Ensemble is open to select musicians who have completed Beginner Guitar Class and are currently enrolled in applied music for guitar. Students will need to know how to read standard music notation, tablature, chord charts and lead sheets. Musical literature consists of a variety of styles ranging from Baroque and Classical styles to Jazz, Blues and Rock. It offers students the opportunity to work in a group  setting and play at various campus functions throughout the semester. Musical Theatre
Each spring students at BSC present a musical theater production. Shows of the recent past include "Spring Awakening," "Legally Blonde," "Gypsy," and "Chicago." BSC students from all disciplines are welcome to audition for parts or volunteer to work on technical crews (stage, lighting, sound, costumes, and pit orchestra).

Private Study
Students at Bismarck State College may elect to study voice, guitar, piano, wind instruments, stringed instruments or percussion with a private instructor for college credit. These lessons MUSC 145/146 can be continued throughout your time at BSC and they fulfill general education and enrichment credit requirements. Music majors include private study as part of their AA curriculum each semester. Group lessons are also available for piano.
