Energy Scholarships

Nuclear Regulatory Commission Trade & Community Scholarship Program
A full-time student enrolled in at least 12 credits and majoring in Nuclear Power Technology that will complete the A.A.S. degree requirements at Bismarck State College (BSC) can be awarded up to $5,000 per year, not to exceed $10,000. The applicant must sign the Service Agreement documents and comply with all stipulations. The applicant must be in good standing (as defined by BSC). Students not working at a nuclear plant are encouraged to apply.
Electrical Lineworker
Otter Tail Power Company Electrical Lineworker (3) 
$2,000 scholarships payable for spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Electrical Lineworker program to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award in spring. This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration given to financial need. 

Cass County Electric Cooperative Lineworker(1) 
$1,000 scholarships payable for spring semester and 3rd semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Electrical Lineworker program to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award in spring. Recipient must reside in the Cass County Electric service area and be pursuing the AAS degree in addition to the Lineworker degree.

MDU Resources Foundation Scholarship
$1000 Scholarships for full-time students enrolled in the Electrical Lineworker Technology Program. The recipients must be full time students and maintain a 2.5 GPA for fall semester to receive payment for spring semester.

Allen Energy Scholarship (1) 
$1,000 per year. Must be accepted into one of BSC's Online Energy Programs. The recipient must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours at BSC and maintain a 2.5 GPA each term to receive the payment for the next term.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Management (2)
This scholarship is for students enrolled in the BSC Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Management program.   This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration based on financial need and employer contribution.  Two $1000 awards are available and will be payable at $500 per semester.  The recipient must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours at Bismarck State College and maintain a 2.5 GPA for Fall term to receive the payment for Spring term. 

DarbyTech Training Equipment (1) 
This scholarship is for students enrolled in Power or Process Plant Technology on the BSC campus.  DarbyTech provided funding for one $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship will be payable for spring semester.   This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration given to financial need.  The recipient must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 grade point average for the fall term to receive the award in spring.  

Great River Energy Power Plant Scholarship (3)
Scholarships are for students enrolled in the BSC Power Plant Program.  These $500 awards will be payable at the Spring semester.  The recipient must carry 15 credit hours and earn a 2.5 grade point average for the fall term to receive the Spring semester award.  NOTE: Only full-time students who have been accepted into the Power Plant Program are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Jack Schuchart Memorial Scholarship (1) 
This scholarship is for students enrolled in the Power/Process Plant Technology program.  A scholarship in memory of Jack Schuchart has been established to provide funding for a $1000 scholarship that will be payable at spring semester.  The recipient must carry 15 credit hours and earn a 2.5 grade point average for the fall term to receive the award in spring.  NOTE: Only full-time students who have been accepted into the Power/Process Plant program are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Frank Bavendick Scholarship 
$1,000 payable at spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in an Energy Technology Program to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award for the spring semester. 

Online Power Plant/Online Electrical Transmission Systems Technology programs - Otter Tail Power Company (4) 
$2,000 scholarships payable spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Online Power Plant Technology program or the BSC Online Electrical Transmissions Systems program to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award in spring. This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration given to financial need. 

Power Plant Technology program on the BSC campus - Otter Tail Power Company (4)
$2,000 scholarships payable for spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Power Plant Technology program on the BSC campus to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award in spring. This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration given to financial need.

Red Trail Energy Scholarship (1) 
$1,000 per year. Must be accepted into the Process Plant Energy Program.  The recipient must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours at BSC and maintain a 2.5 GPA each term to receive the payment for the next term. Preference will be given to students residing in Stark, Morton, Hettinger, Billings or Dunn County. 

Xcel Energy Scholarship (2) 
$1,000 per year. Must be accepted into one of BSC's Online Energy Programs. The recipient must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours at BSC and maintain a 2.5 GPA each term to receive the payment for the next term. 

Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship(1) 
$1,000 payable Spring semester. Must be accepted into one of BSC's Energy Technology Programs. The recipient must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours at BSC and maintain a 2.5 GPA fall term to receive the payment for Spring. 

MDU Resources Foundation Scholarship 
$1000 Scholarships for full-time students enrolled in certain Energy Technology Programs. The recipients must be full time students and maintain a 2.50 GPA for fall semester to receive payment for spring semester.

MidAmerican Energy Foundation Scholarship 
$500 Scholarships for full-time students enrolled in certain Energy Technology Programs. The recipients must be full time students and maintain a 2.50 GPA for fall semester to receive payment for spring semester.

Instrumentation and Control

Great River Energy Instrumentation and Control Scholarship (4) $500 scholarships payable for spring semester. Must be enrolled in the I & C program. Award based on academic achievement and participation in the program. Must carry 12 credits and earn 2.5 GPA in at least one semester to receive spring award. 

Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative Scholarship (1) Full ride scholarships. Must be enrolled in the I & C program. Recipient is required to do an internship during the summer months to be eligible for the award.  Award based on academic achievement and participation in the program. Must carry 12 credits and earn 2.5 GPA.

Mechanical Maintenance

Otter Tail Power Company Mechanical Maintenance (5) - $2,000 scholarships payable for spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Mechanical Maintenance program to be eligible for this scholarship and must carry 12 credit hours and earn a 2.5 GPA for the fall term to receive the award in spring. This award is based upon academic achievement with consideration given to financial need. 

Great River Energy Mechanical Maintenance (8) - $500 scholarships payable for spring semester. Recipient must be accepted in the BSC Mechanical Maintenance program to be eligible for this scholarship, must carry 12 credit hours and earn 2.5 GPA in at least one semester to receive spring award.

Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative Scholarship (1) Full ride scholarships. Must be enrolled in the Mechanical Maintenance program. Recipient is required to do an internship during the summer months to be eligible for the award.  Award based on academic achievement and participation in the program. Must carry 12 credits and earn 2.5 GPA.
