BSC showcases alumni during ArtsQuest

Bismarck State College ArtsQuest continues its second year of bringing BSC alumni back to tell their success stories through the Creative Path series.

"The Art of Making It" is shared by illustrator and designer Bree Reetz, '10, and marketing specialist Ty Hagerott, '02, in a 7 p.m. program Wednesday, April 15, in Basin Electric Auditorium, National Energy Center of Excellence.

They will speak about their journeys to establish a creative professional career in North Dakota. Both live in the Fargo area and work with graphic design.

With her Associate in Applied Science in graphic design, Reetz was able to start Bree Reetz Illustrations in 2011, while also employed at North Dakota State University as a graphic designer and animator for BeanCAP. She went independent in 2014.

Active in Phi Theta Kappa honor society at BSC, Reetz was illustration and layout editor for The Mystician student newspaper. She also designed the logo for BSC's Campus Read and promotional materials for the Rock the Lawn concerts. At her Moorhead, Minn., business, she combines hand drawings and computer technology to specialize in illustration, modern textile design, fashion, events, portraits and children's books.

Hagerott transferred credits from his Associate in Arts to North Dakota State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 2004 in mass communications. Between 2005 and 2013, he worked his way from creative director at Area Woman Publishing to graphic administrator at First Assembly, and user experience designer at Xtreme Consulting Group, Inc., a Microsoft contractor in Fargo.

In 2007, Hagerott launched Coloring Outside The Lines, Inc., his brand development agency specializing in marketing and design. As owner and creative director, he does logo, Web and brand identity design, social media, advertising, signage, interior experience and business marketing collateral.

ArtsQuest began in 1998 as a project of the Arts and Communication Department to highlight the talent of BSC students and bring performances and presentations by guest artists to campus. For more information, visit bismarckstate.edu/artsquest.
