BSC Holiday Concert set for Dec. 16

The Holiday Concert at Bismarck State College heralds Christmas on Dec. 16 with popular, sacred and traditional music performed by BSC vocal and instrumental groups.
A serenade by the Guitar Ensemble precedes the 7:30 p.m. concert in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium.
The Brass Ensemble performs a Christmas jazz medley, and the Wind Ensemble does Prokofiev’s “Midnight Sleighride” and variations on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Both are directed by John Darling.
Familiar stylings continue with the Men’s Ensemble singing “The Christmas Song” made famous by Nat King Cole, and “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” an arrangement created by the members of the ensemble.
The Women’s Ensemble follows with the traditional French carol, “Pat-a-Pan,” and the gospel spiritual, “Go Where I Send Thee.”
Andrew Miller directs the BSC Concert Choir in the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah,” and a Paul J. Christiansen arrangement of the nativity carol, “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly.” The Chamber Singers perform two sacred pieces, including Miller’s composition, “Hodie Christus Natus Est.”
The Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir end the concert with “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Other faculty directors are Dawn Hagerott, Clyde Bauman, Doug Klein, Rob Peske and Michael Langer.
A reception follows in the Leach Music Center with entertainment by the BSC Jazz Combo.
