The Bismarck State College campus has grown by three buildings this past year and gained modern, expanded space in the Student Union.

A public open house to view the completed projects is set from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, on central campus and along Edwards Avenue.

Visitors can enjoy music by a BSC faculty and student combo outside Schafer Hall from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and grilled hot dogs on the Student Union patio until 5:30 p.m.

BSC President Larry C. Skogen leads the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m. in the new outdoor courtyard next to the Communications & Creative Arts Center. Rain location is the library commons.

Self-guided building tours are scheduled 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 to 7 p.m. with students and faculty providing information and direction at the buildings.

BSC is celebrating completion of the new library and high-tech learning commons in the 40,000 square foot Communications and Creative Arts Center at the corner of Schafer Street and Edwards Avenue. The three-story, brick building also houses the Visual Art program, campus gallery and English classrooms and offices.

The Lloyd Ritchie Residence Hall welcomes students this fall. The adjacent Gate City Bank Residence Hall remains under construction and should be ready for occupancy next winter. Ritchie contains 14 two-bedroom apartments. Gate City can accommodate an additional four apartments on a lower level. The complex will enable about 128 more students to live on campus.

BSC's Student Union received a complete makeover with redesigned food services, student gathering areas, two more meeting rooms, offices for student organizations, and a new game room. The bookstore retail operations moved to the main level with a coffee bar and a convenience store.
