Topics set for Conversations at BSC

Published: Sep 15 2015

Bismarck State College presents its eighth series of Conversations at BSC with five humanities topics scheduled throughout the academic year.

Held on selected Sunday afternoons, the discussions take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Bavendick Stateroom of BSC's National Energy Center of Excellence.

This season's conversations between BSC President Larry C. Skogen and Clay Jenkinson, BSC distinguished scholar of humanities, will include comments and questions from the audience.

The series begins Oct. 4 with "Vietnam: History, Metaphor, Quagmire, Myth" and moves to "Richard III: Shakespeare, Sir Thomas More, and the Guy in the British Parking Lot" on Jan. 31.

On March 13, the focus is "Buffalo Bill and the Invention of the West" followed by "The Dust Bowl Years: North Dakota, Steinbeck, and the New Deal" on May 1.

Conversations at BSC will stretch into summer this year with the June 12 topic, "Custer and the Black Hills: The Thieves Trail."
