GenCyber Camp



The Bismarck State College GenCyber Cybersecurity Academy is a 5-day camp for students entering grades 6-8. The academy is funded through a grant from the National Security Agency (NSA) and National Science Foundation (NSF), making it FREE of charge for 80 participants.

Experienced high school and college faculty will lead students through lessons and interactive cybersecurity activities. The program will focus on cybersecurity concepts and cover a number of topics including:
 
  • Cybersecurity introduction and online safety
  • Digital citizenship
  • Hardware, operating systems, and programming
  • Computer careers and concepts review

Dates: August 7-11, 2023
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:15 PM
Location: Bismarck State College
Cost: FREE

Camp registration includes:
Breakfast, lunch & snacks

 

    


What is GenCyber?

GenCyber is a FREE, nationwide program that is funded by the NSA and the National Science Foundation. GenCyber provides summer cybersecurity camps to students. The goal of the program is to help students understand safe online behavior, learn fundamental cybersecurity knowledge, increase interest in cybersecurity careers and improve pedagogical methods for delivering cybersecurity content in K-12 curricula.

Teach for GenCyber

Bismarck State College is seeking Camp Assistants for this exciteing week-long program!

Camp Assistants support the GenCyber program by leading camp activities and lessons, engaging in morning and end-of-day routines, and providing instructional and technical assistance. Camp Assistants will help create a learning environment that is both fun and educational. The camp assistant will be responsible for the well-being and education of the students, enforce policies and attend any orientation training scheduled by the camp supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to successfully pass FBI, MD, and CJIS background screening
  • Basic understanding of computer software applications and programming
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Ability to enforce operational procedures
