Financial Aid Request - Summer Term

General Eligibility Requirements
Students must meet financial aid eligibility requirements. The minimum credit hour requirement for financial aid for the Summer Session at BSC is 6 credits (at least half-time). Federal Direct Student Loans require a minimum of 6 credits.

In order for your federal direct loan or federal unsubsidized direct loan to disburse, you must be active in and/or have successfully complete 6 or more credits per term. You have to be currently enrolled in the term to receive your financial aid.

Financial Aid Availability
  • Pell Grants are available for students who meet all eligibility requirements. You may be eligible for a Pell Grant if you are enrolled in less than 6 credit hours for summer; exception: if you received a full-time Pell Grant for both fall and spring semesters, you are not eligible.
  • Direct Loans are available providing you have not met your loan limits for the fall and spring semesters and must be enrolled in 6 or more credits.
Summer financial aid awards are based on the number of credits students are enrolled in for the Summer Session. If a student's enrollment status changes, it could affect financial aid eligibility and/or delay the receipt of financial aid funds.

Students must inform the Student Financial Aid Office should their enrollment status change.

You must have a 2016-2017 FAFSA on file to be considered for summer financial aid eligibility. The last day to submit a 2016-2017 FAFSA online is June 30, 2017. Remember to complete your 2017-2018 FAFSA for the new year using the "IRS Data Retrieval Tool"!

Students must be in compliance with BSC's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy at the end of Spring Semester 2017 to receive financial aid for Summer Session 2017.

PLEASE NOTE: Spring Semester compliance with the SAP policy cannot be determined until after Summer financial aid disbursement begins. Therefore, if a student is determined not to be in compliance with SAP, they may be billed to repay any financial aid received for the Summer.

Financial Aid will not be awarded until you are registered for summer classes. If you are selected for the verification process, you will not receive a financial aid award until the verification is complete.
