Notable entertainers from the 1960s perform Nov. 3-4 as part of the Bismarck State College three-day symposium on one of America's most influential decades.
Open to the public, and offered separately from "The ‘60s: Turmoil and Transformation" symposium, is an evening with renowned game show host and concert promoter Bob Eubanks and Dawn Wells, best known as Mary Ann Summers on the popular television sitcom, "Gilligan's Island."
Their show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the Bavendick Stateroom of BSC's National Energy Center of Excellence. BSC President Larry C. Skogen welcomes audience members starting about 7 p.m., and a book signing follows the show.
Purchase tickets separately for the Eubanks/Wells "swinging ‘60s fun" show in the symposium registration link at the
1960s website
, at the door, or by calling BSC at 701-224-5600.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, a concert by The New Christy Minstrels wraps up the first symposium day. The folk group performs off-campus at 7:30 p.m. in Belle Mehus City Auditorium, downtown Bismarck.
Purchase The New Christy Minstrels tickets in person at the Bismarck Event Center Ticket Office at Bowen Avenue and 5th Street or through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000, or
Ticketmaster.com
. A convenience fee will be added per ticket on charge orders.
The New Christy Minstrels, founded by Randy Sparks in 1961 and still under his direction, recorded more than 20 albums, several of them gold. Their 1962 debut album won a Grammy Award and sat on the Billboard charts for two years. Famous hits include "Green, Green," "Saturday Night," "Denver," "Today," and "This Land Is Your Land."
Bob Eubanks, former host of "The Newlywed Game" and "Card Sharks," is the only person to have promoted The Beatles concerts all three years they toured America. He also produced some of the biggest concerts ever, including The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, and managed the careers of Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrel and others. He is among the top TV producers for network and syndicated game shows and winner of eight Emmy Awards.
Dawn Wells was a cast member in the longest running sitcom still showing worldwide. She has starred in more than 150 TV shows and seven motion pictures, most recently in "Silent But Deadly," and more than 60 theater productions. Besides acting, Wells is a producer, author, spokesperson, journalist, teacher, motivational speaker, and chairwoman of the Terry Lee Wells Foundation, which focuses on women and children.
The BSC symposium website contains the three-day schedule, online registration link, Pay-per-view information, presenter biographies, and recommended books associated with the symposium. All information can be accessed at
1960s website
. Symposium registration deadline is Oct. 28. For more information, call 701-224-5600 or 877-846-9387.
Arrangements for the appearance of Bob Eubanks made through Greater Talent Network, Inc., New York, N.Y.
