The Gannon Gallery at Bismarck State College will display an all-media exhibit by Century High School art students March 6-30.
Reception for the students in grades nine through 12 takes place Thursday, March 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the new Library-English-Art building at 1400 Schafer Street. Gannon Gallery is on second floor.
Juried work by 60 students was chosen and includes pen and ink drawings, pencil, pastel, acrylic painting, charcoal, mixed media, photography, ceramic and metal sculpture, and constructed cardboard sculptures created in student art classes.
CHS art instructors Laurie Foerderer, Brad Lies, and Jenna Jacobson, juror, worked with BSC gallery coordinator and art instructor, Andrea Fagerstrom, to create this exhibit by CHS students.
“I am always impressed with the quality of artwork that comes from Century High School,” Fagerstrom says. “This is the fifth year that we have had CHS art exhibited at BSC which is a great opportunity for the students to see their artwork displayed in a gallery. They also tour BSC art facilities which is a bit of a preview for those who begin their higher ed journey with us after high school graduation.”
