Published: Oct 11 2016
An art exhibit by Shane Brinster titled “Based Couture” is on display at Bismarck State College through Oct. 13 in the Gannon Gallery on the second floor of LEA Hall.
The public is invited to a reception for the artist on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gallery.
A multi-media artist from Sawyer, N.D., Brinster’s current work consists of spray paint on canvas, applied via a combination of freehand and stencils. Best described as postmodern; his work incorporates aspects of pop art, graffiti art and abstract expressionism.
The “Based Couture” exhibit juxtaposes 20th century cultural archetypes with a contemporary, gritty and urban style, both in content and execution.
This exhibit is sponsored by the North Dakota Art Gallery Association with support from the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
