BSC ArtsQuest finale includes community raku, poetry contest, graphics show and a “pARTy”

ArtsQuest at Bismarck State College wraps up this week with the signature raku firing for students and the community, a poetry contest, a student graphic design show and a campus-wide “pARTy”.
The outdoor pottery firing encompasses three days from Sunday, April 28 to Tuesday, April 30 west of LEA Hall, weather permitting. Viewing and participation hours are 1-5 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The BSC marketing students present an opportunity for the public to bring poetry to an audience in a live poetry competition. A Poet's Tale – Poetry Contest will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Basin Electric Auditorium inside the BSC National Energy Center of Excellence. Participants can register at the door and the contest is open to all.
As part of the week’s events, the BSC Graphic Design & Communications program hosts its 44th Annual Spring Show of student work Monday, April 29 through Wednesday, May 1 in the BSC Student Union. The display can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Thursday, May 2, BSC hosts its annual “pARTy” starting at 10 a.m. and running throughout the day on central campus. All events are free and open to the public.

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Screen printing, art sale, photo booth, Alumni/Foundation activity (Student Union)
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Live DJs and music from The Myx (Student Union)
11:30 a.m. Gate City sponsored lunch - Free lunch sponsored by Gate City Bank (Student Union)
Noon - Figments Reading on the Mystic Stage (Mystic Marketplace)
1 - 3:30 p.m. - Plein air painting with Prairie Plein Air Artists and guest artist Karen Bakke*
4 p.m. - Plein Air Painting Critique
*Plein Air painting around campus, group critique in LEA Hall outdoor courtyard. In the case of inclement weather, painting in LEA art studios with critique in 3rd floor student lounge.
