BSC Music department kicks off fall concert series with three concerts

The Bismarck State College Music department kicks off the fall concert season with three concerts in seven days.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, BSC presents an all-choral concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Sidney J. Lee Auditorium in Schafer Hall.
Four of BSC’s choirs and ensembles come together for the first concert of the season. The Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and the Men’s and Women’s Ensembles treat the audience to a dozen choral selections. The groups are directed by Dr. Jeffrey Stone, Dawn Hagerott and Clyde Bauman.
BSC presents its annual Baroque Festival concert at noon on Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Leach Music Center within Schafer Hall.
Faculty and students perform solo and ensemble works by J.S. Bach, Pachelbel, Purcell, and others during the concert that is open to the public. Several vocal and instrumental chamber groups perform including the Trombone Choir, Women’s Choir, String Ensemble, Mixed Chamber Choir and Guitar Ensemble. Featured soloists are students Luke Weber and Adler Scheer, and faculty Hagerott and Bauman. All are accompanied by Nancy Darling and Colleen Hathaway. Faculty directors are Dr. John Darling, Doug Klein, Laura Prokopyk, Stone and Bauman.
On Monday, Nov. 5, the BSC Wind Ensemble concludes the series with a concert set for 7:30 p.m. in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium.
Conducted by Dr. John Darling and music education major Jacob Lawler, this concert features seven selections including “Let Freedom Ring,” “Chester” and the Bernstein “Danzon” for his 100th birthday commemoration.
The concerts are all offered at no charge.
