BSC to observe Constitution Day with special activities
Published: Sep 14 2016
Since Constitution Day 2016 falls on a Saturday this year, Bismarck State College will observe and celebrate with special activities on Monday, Sept. 19.
Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United State Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on Sept. 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.
The BSC Constitution Day committee will be serving up red, white and blue donuts in the Student Union beginning at 11 a.m. and students will have the opportunity to sign or draft bills they think should be included in the U.S. Constitution today. Extra flags will be flown, displays will be set up and faculty will lead discussions in classes regarding the history of the document and what it means to our country’s history.
Constitution Day observation is an annual activity on the BSC campus.
