The Gannon Gallery in the Bismarck State College Library offers an exhibition of paintings by Donna Watts through Nov. 30.
Reception for the artist and her “Inspired by Shadow” exhibit is Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gallery.
“The works of the Old Masters have always been a source of inspiration in my study and technique and I have recently returned to using the old methods and materials of oil paint and canvas preparation,” Watts said in her artist statement. “I am creating a series of works (oil on canvas) using the old methods and traditional Old Masters still life subjects but in a modern interpretation of style.”
Watts is an instructor in method and theory for artists at her studio in Burlington, N.D. Her work is on display throughout the Midwest and she teaches workshops at artist studios in Iowa, the Chicago area and in North Dakota.
BSC hosts the exhibit and is sponsored by the North Dakota Art Gallery Association with support from the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
