A new choral event called Bismarck Sings will feature 14 singing groups from local high schools, colleges, the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus, the Evangel Assemblies of God Choir, and Inspiraré, a professional vocal ensemble.
Bismarck State College has coordinated the first annual Bismarck Sings concert, which takes place Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bismarck Event Center.
Performing with their directors are concert choirs from Bismarck's five high schools - Century, Bismarck High, Legacy, Shiloh, and St. Mary's Central - and Mandan High School.
The University of Mary Concert Choir will perform, along with BSC's Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Women's Ensemble and Men's Ensemble.
Andrew Miller, BSC's choral director, has collaborated with 13 chorus conductors to produce the program of classical, ethnic, sacred and contemporary works sung by a total of 602 young people and adults. Miller will direct a mass chorus in his own composition, "Alleluia," as a finale to the concert.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for parents of participating students, $5 for seniors and students and can be purchased at the door.
