Bismarck State College piano instructor and music lecturer Michael Langer makes his debut as guest soloist with the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra Sunday, Jan. 24, in an all-Beethoven concert.
The concert takes place at 7 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 806 E. Denver Ave., Bismarck.
Langer will perform the composer’s First Piano Concerto in C Major, a work known for its humor, lyricism and brilliant pianistic displays. The first movement wanders to unexpected keys, while other movements feature a prominent coda and cadenza.
The program also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, conducted by Dennis Gowen.
Langer has a master’s degree in piano performance from Boise State University and two undergraduate degrees in music education and performance from University of Mary. He teaches piano and other music classes at Bismarck State College and the Dickinson State University four-year program at BSC. Langer is primary accompanist at BSC and active in the local and state Music Teachers Association. He has performed with the Boise Symphony Orchestra and opera companies and orchestras in Boise and Bismarck.
Tickets at the door are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students, and $5 for children 15 and under (one child admitted free with paying adult).
