BSC and ND National Guard to host annual Community Fit Fair
BSC and ND National Guard to host annual Community Fit Fair
Post Date:

Bismarck State College, with support of the ND National Guard, is hosting the 4
th
Annual Community Fit Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 4-7 p.m. in its new location this year – the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
The Community Fit Fair was developed in an effort to raise awareness of the wellness organizations available in our communities, focus on promoting overall wellness to attendees, and provide an opportunity for our military members to reconnect with the community.
New this year is a military-inspired obstacle course for participants ages 5 and older, which replaces the competitive Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) from years past. The adult individual and team obstacle courses will challenge novice/recreational athletes to expert/competitive athletes in completing nearly 20 military-inspired obstacles. Individuals will compete strictly against their personal goals, while teams of 5 will compete against each other. ND National Guard Soldiers will be staffing each of the obstacles, pumping up competitors in true Army fashion to “be the best you can be.”
The Youth Bootcamp (ages 5+) will offer a fun, high-energy military-themed obstacle course where youth can run, jump, low crawl and lift with their favorite military heroes.
All community wellness-related businesses are also encouraged to host an interactive booth to promote their organization and offer their expertise to event attendees. Booths will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Participation at the Community Fit Fair is free for all event participants, observers and booths. Competitors are encouraged to pre-register early to guarantee a Community Fit Fair t-shirt and save time on the day of the event, however, event-day registrations are welcome.
Registration is now open for the adult and youth obstacle courses and for community booth hosts at
bismarckstate.edu/fitfair
and event updates will be posted on the
Community Fit Fair Facebook event page
.
