The five candidates for the position of Bismarck State College president will be on the college campus March 2-5. The public is invited to attend the community forums held in the Basin Electric Auditorium inside the BSC National Energy Center of Excellence.
 
The BSC Presidential Search Committee extended invitations to the following individuals to come to campus for open employee, student and community forums:

University of Rio Grande & Rio Grande Community College
Community forum: Monday, March 2, 3 p.m.
 
Dr. Clark Harris
Special Assistant to the President
Laramie County Community College
Community forum: Monday, March 2, 4 p.m.
 
Dr. Douglas Jensen
President and CEO
Rock Valley College
Community forum: Tuesday, March 3, 8:15 a.m.
 
Dr. Philip Klein
Dean of Health and Public Safety
South Piedmont Community College
Community forum: Tuesday, March 3, 4 p.m.
 
Dr. Joan Poor
Executive Director
Slack Farms Foundation, Inc.
Community forum: Wednesday, March 4, 3 p.m.
 
 
A total of 41 applications were submitted for the position. The BSC Presidential Search Committee interviewed 12 candidates last week, narrowing down the field to the top five.
 
Each of the five candidates will spend time on campus in public forums, meeting with students, employees and the Search Committee, and touring the campus and community. Following the visits, the Search Committee will complete their responsibilities by naming the candidates who will advance to interview with the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education (SBHE). The SBHE will name BSC's next president at their March 26 meeting.
 
Current President Larry C. Skogen will retire on June 30, 2020. The new president assumes office on July 1, 2020.
