Jammin' for Josh headlines BSC Mystics final home games Thursday

Published: Feb 18 2015
The last regular season home games for the Mystics men and women are Thursday, Feb. 19 vs. Dawson Community College. Game times are 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the BSC Armory.

During the games the BSC Athletic Department, along with Bismarck Health Tracks, is sponsoring a fundraiser event for 13-year-old Josh Steckler. Josh suffers from hereditary pancreatitis, a rare genetic condition which causes severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and can lead to pancreatic cancer. He receives ongoing treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. His sister suffers from the same disease, and their father died of pancreatic cancer.

Erron Collins, a BSC basketball player, had a Wilm's tumor, Stage IV, when he was 4 years old. He and Josh have connected over their love of basketball and their shared experiences of doctor visits, hospital and clinic care, and painful treatments at such a young age.

Donations for Josh can be given during the game. Additionally, the athletic department is selling numbered t-shirts for $10 that offer a chance to win prizes including $100 gift certificate from Scheels, $50 gift cards from Minerva's, Raging River passes, a tablet and more. You must be present with your t-shirt to win.
