LGBTQ youth programs offered at BSC

Published: Feb 08 2015
The Bismarck State College Embracing Diversity Committee is offering two programs dealing with issues of LGBTQ youth.

Both take place Thursday, Feb. 19, in Basin Electric Auditorium of BSC's National Energy Center of Excellence. They are free and open to the public.

Cory Schneider, an LGBTQ educational consultant and psychotherapist from Los Angeles, will present a workshop from noon to 1:15 p.m. on "Interventions for LGBTQ Bullied Youth." Educators are encouraged to attend.

Schneider speaks again at 7 p.m. in the auditorium on "Helping Parents Understand Their LGBTQ Children."

In his practice at Affirmative Foundations, Schneider offers LGBTQ educational consulting services for organizations, school districts and businesses. He has trained hundreds of teachers and administrators on LGBTQ spectrum, identity development, classroom climate, and equity issues, followed by specific bullying prevention and intervention strategies.
