Seventy-two more students will have living quarters on the Bismarck State College campus when school starts this fall thanks to a new project and partnership between the BSC Foundation and Gate City Bank.

BSC, the BSC Foundation and Gate City Bank dedicated the new Gate City Bank Residence Hall on on August 9 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours and an outdoor cookout.

The new apartment-style residence hall will house 72 students in 18 units. Each unit has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen with appliances and a washer and dryer.

“Gate City Bank is excited about Bismarck State College’s growth. To see the expansion and transformation of their college campus housing become a reality is a celebrated announcement for so many, including the Gate City Bank team,” said Norman Clark, Senior Vice President Southwest Regional Leader at Gate City Bank.  “Gate City Bank and the BSC Foundation have enjoyed a special partnership over the years.”

While the Foundation and Gate City Bank have partnered on various projects, this residence hall is the first venture of this nature for both parties.

“The partnership between Gate City Bank and the BSC Foundation has been exemplary. The BSC Foundation had never financed a project like student housing before so we wanted to make certain we proceeded with caution and avoided complications. Gate City Bank made it easy for us and cooperated on every step. We’re honored to name the residence hall for Gate City Bank as their support for the project ensured an affordable venture for the BSC Foundation and, more importantly, housing for BSC students,” said BSC Foundation Senior Development Advisor Gordy Binek.

With the addition of the Gate City Bank residence hall, BSC can now accommodate 433 students with on-campus housing. BSC residence halls are typically at full capacity at the start of each school year.

“Over the last few years, we’ve seen more students wanting to reside on our campus in order to pursue an affordable college education. Providing those students with affordable housing has, thus, become a strategic priority for us,” said BSC President Larry C. Skogen. “Thanks to the partnership of the BSC Foundation and Gate City Bank, we’ve been able to meet that growing need.”

Move-in Day for on-campus BSC students is Sunday, August 21.
