Mystics Men’s and Women’s Golf will make its return in 2027 after a 10-year absence
Bismarck State College (BSC) President Brian Kalk and Director of Athletics Jason Harris announced on Wednesday morning that the Mystics Men’s and Women’s Golf programs will return to campus, bringing BSC’s athletic offerings to 22 teams.

“BSC is quickly becoming the destination for those who want to compete at the next level while preparing for successful careers. As BSC continues to grow, we want to make sure we are providing opportunities for students in every aspect of the college experience. Reinstating our golf program gives more student-athletes greater opportunity to compete in a sport where they excel and proudly represent their college and community, while pursuing a high-quality education at North Dakota's only polytechnic institution,” said Kalk.

BSC’s last golf season was 2016-17, concluding at the NJCAA Division III National Golf Tournament. According to BSC archives, the men’s program was originally established as a competitive sport in 1951, and the women's program in 2007.
Now, both programs will begin preparing for the 2027-28 season, which tees off in August 2027.

“Bringing golf back was a big focal point for us to continue our growth as an athletic department,” said Harris. “We’ve seen participation in golf grow across the state in the past ten years, and we’re confident that now is a better time than ever to bring the program back and enhance the opportunities BSC can provide for student-athletes.”

Harris is very familiar with the BSC golf program, having coached teams from 2009 to 2014 while also serving as the head men’s basketball coach at the college. During that time, both the men’s and women’s golf teams recorded trips to the national tournament.

“We’re pleased to welcome Bismarck State’s men’s and women’s golf programs to the Frontier Conference,” said Commissioner Scott Crawford. “This addition strengthens our golf offerings and reflects the continued growth and commitment of our member schools to support student-athletes in all sports.”

The Mystics will be the ninth Frontier Conference men’s and women’s golf program, joining Bellevue (Neb.), Carroll (Mont.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Montana Tech, Providence (Mont.), Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and Valley City State (N.D.). All four North Dakota schools in the conference will now sponsor golf.

“The ability to compete against our North Dakota rivals in the Frontier Conference was another big motivator in solidifying this decision,” shared Harris. “We’re excited to bring our in-state competition to another sport and show the state what the Mystics can do.”

BSC is currently finalizing head coaching hires to lead each team.
