Bismarck State College welcomes Dr. Brian Kalk as its eighth president, kicking off a new chapter focused on student success, workforce alignment and continued growth.

Dr. Brian Kalk highlights his commitment to putting students first by ensuring they are supported, prepared and connected to meaningful career opportunities. He emphasizes the importance of aligning BSC’s programs with workforce needs, strengthening partnerships with industry and continuing the college’s momentum as North Dakota’s polytechnic institution.

President Kalk also points to the strength of BSC’s faculty and staff, noting that collaboration across campus and with community partners will be key to continued growth. His leadership will focus on building on what already makes BSC successful while adapting to meet the evolving needs of students and the state.

“The campus of Bismarck State College has never looked better. The opportunities are right in front of us, and I'm so excited to be given the chance to lead this college,” President Kalk said.

Selected by the State Board of Higher Education, President Kalk brings extensive experience in research, industry partnerships and public service. He most recently served as chief research officer at the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center, where he led efforts connecting education, innovation and workforce development.

As he begins his presidency, President Kalk looks forward to building on BSC’s strong foundation and creating new opportunities for students and the greater community.
