Digital Textbooks Process

Students who qualify for digital textbooks (e-books) through BSC’s Student Accessibility Office can follow the steps below.
  1. Enroll in classes.
  2. Explore the BSC bookstore to find the list of required textbooks for your courses and the electronic format options.
  3. If the bookstore does not list a digital textbook option, explore other book sites, or go to the publisher’s website to see if they have a digital version for you to purchase.
    1. Make sure to double check the ISBN numbers to ensure you are purchasing the correct books.
    2. Amazon carries a wide selection of electronic and audiobooks in various formats available for purchase.
    3. VitalSource is an online retailer that carries electronic textbooks as well as electronic resources, such as study guides, for certain textbooks.
  4. BSC’s Student Accessibility Office can help you obtain an accessible version if you are unable to find a digital version or if the digital version available is not accessible with your screen reader.
    1. Students will need to provide proof of purchase of the text (example: screenshot or picture of the receipt).
    2. Then, BSC’s Student Accessibility Office can help you find a digital version that meets your needs.
    3. Contact BSC’s Student Accessibility Office at bsc.accessibility@bismarckstate.edu or 701-224-2496 to begin this process.
