Climb Higher at BSC! Whether you're brand new to climbing or an experienced climber looking for a challenge, the Bavendick Center Rock Wall offers a fun, supportive environment to build confidence, strength and community.
Located inside the Bavendick Center, our climbing wall provides students and employees guests with an exciting opportunity that promotes physical wellness, problem-solving and personal growth.
Who Can Climb?
The climbing wall is open to: BSC students, faculty, and staff.
No climbing experience is required! Our staff can help first-time climbers learn basic techniques and safety procedures before getting started.
Equipment
The following equipment is available for climbers:
- Climbing harnesses
- Belay devices
- Climbing ropes
- Climbing shoes (if available)
- Safety orientation and instruction
Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement. Loose or baggy clothing is not permitted.
First-Time Climbers
Never climbed before? No problem.
Our staff will guide you through:
- Climbing wall policies and procedures
- Equipment fitting and use
- Basic climbing commands
- Belay and safety practices
- Tips for a successful first climb
Most climbers are ready to start climbing within minutes of completing orientation.
Safety First
All climbers must:
- Complete required waiver, orientation, and follow instructions at all times (see button below)
- Use approved safety equipment
- Adhere to climbing wall policies and procedures
