Program Description
Bismarck State College offers an instructor-led, online Electric Power Technology (ELPW) program developed in collaboration with the Energy Providers Coalition for Education (EPCE).  This program is designed for current and future electric utility workers.
elpw_home.pngThis industry-driven online program addresses critical employment needs in the electric utilities work force.  The ELPW program provides students with a core set of skills and competencies and a broad knowledge of the industry.  After completion of the core courses, students choose a specialization area to pursue.  Areas of choice include Line Construction, Metering, Substation and System Design.  Students have the following options:
  • Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Electric Power Technology
  • Program Certificate in Electric Power Technology
  • Electric Power Technology Courses (college courses for professional development)
Developed in collaboration with EPCE electrical utility industry partners, BSC's Electric Power Technology program is designed to help address the aging workforce and is based on industry guidelines, with a direct link to electrical utility fundamentals training.

BSC's Electric Power Technology program is supported by many EPCE member utilities.  Visit the EPCE website for a listing of these companies.

Bismarck State College is proud to include the fully-accredited Electric Power Technology program along with other online energy technology course offerings.  BSC has been offering customized programs for the utilities industry for over 40 years and also offers a wide range of training services designed to help students succeed in their careers.

Additional Information 
Credits from this program may be applied to BSC's Bachelor of Applied Science degree (BAS) in Energy Management, offered entirely online. The BAS is designed for individuals interested in supervisory and management positions in the energy industry. The BAS builds on the foundation laid in an AAS degree and includes general education classes, core management courses, and energy specific management courses.
