Academic Support (Tutoring)

Academic Support Services are designed to assist students in achieving their academic goals. We want students to be successful by learning the essential skills of an independent learner.

Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring provides an opportunity for students to receive assistance for BSC courses at no cost to currently enrolled BSC students.

Read and Write Software

From reading on-screen text aloud to researching and checking written work, Read & Write makes lots of everyday tasks easier. It's a big confidence booster for anyone who needs a little extra help with their reading and writing.

Study Skills Workshops

Free Study Skills Workshops are offered each semester. These workshops provide information for developing skills vital to enhancing academic performance and will provide suggestions for immediately applying the techniques discussed.

Return to Learn: An Orientation for Adult Learners

Return to learn is intended for adult learners (25+) who have decided to enroll at BSC for the first time or to re-enter after a period of time away from college.  This program is intended to make the transition to the academic environment as easy as possible.

Learning Fair

Two learning fairs are held yearly - one in September and one in February. The purpose of learning fair is to provide opportunities for students to build skills and gain knowledge relevant to academic success, to increase awareness of and access to support programs and centers, and to bring focus and visibility to the concept and importance of academic success.
