External Scholarships

The AFCEA Educational Foundation has six general categories of scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled and attending full-time at four-year colleges or universities in the United States. High school students are not eligible to apply.

AISES Scholarships
AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Asian Pacific Fund
Asian Pacific Fund coordinate several scholarship programs that provide financial support to undergraduate and graduate students. Each program is tailored to reflect the donor’s personal interests, including career paths and specific backgrounds.

Through these programs, we partner with donors to give back in ways that are meaningful to them and help students embark on their dreams.

American Chemical Society Scholarship
ACS sponsors scholarship programs for qualified applicants who want to enter the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology and teaching. The program's aim is to encourage diversity among applicants and build awareness of the value and rewards associated with careers in science and technology.

American Indian College Fund    
The American Indian College Fund provides scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native college students who are enrolled in certificate, undergraduate, or graduate programs at tribal colleges and universities, or nonprofit, accredited schools.

American Indian Education Fund 
The American Indian Education Fund (AIEF) was established to support educational opportunities for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students.  Our vision is strong, self-sufficient American Indian communities.  Scholarships are chosen by a national selection committee and decisions are based on an overall assessment of the completed application. Application Deadline: April 4, 2025

American Sugar Crystal Company Vocational Scholarship & Training Program
American Crystal Sugar Company is a great example of farmers and manufacturers working together to create the highest quality product enjoyed across the country and relied upon in consumers' favorites like sodas, candy bars and cereals.

American Crystal offers many different career options to explore, from technical roles overseeing manufacturing processes to administrative roles leading to factory teams or headquarters programs. The partnership with Bismarck State College helps prepare students for Boiler House Technician and Process Technician careers at our factories. Full scholarships, covering tuition, tools, books, and room/board costs, are awarded annually to students pursuing AAS degrees in Power Generation Technology and Process Technology.
 
American Water Works Association AWWA Scholarship
Awarding $500 for Water Operator training and education. Each recipient will receive a one-year AWWA Operator membership.

American Welding Society Foundation Scholarship
The AWS Foundation is dedicated to meeting the needs for education and research in the field of welding and related joining technologies.

Bismarck Cancer Center (BCC) Foundation:  Johnson Family Memorial Scholarship
The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation (BCCF) is pleased to announce the 14th Annual BCC Foundation Johnson Family Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of Donna Johnson and Michael Johnson. This scholarship program supports individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in oncology and are working toward a degree through a Bismarck college. This year, two scholarships of $1,200 each will be awarded to deserving applicants. The priority application deadline is May 30, 2025

Bismarck Dollars for Scholars
Bismarck Dollars for Scholars is a community-driven program that provides $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Bismarck high schools. Since 2005, we've awarded over 300 scholarships —totaling more than $185,000 in support for local students! Learn more here.

Cobell Scholarship - Indigenous Education, Inc.
Providing elevated opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native college students through empowering them with an engaging scholarship experience designed to support their success in higher education. The deadline varies please visit cobellscholar.org.

Dacotah Bank Scholarship
Dacotah Bank is excited to continue supporting students with its annual scholarship program. This year, Dacotah Bank will award one outstanding high school graduate a top scholarship of $10,000. In addition, twenty-nine individual scholarships of $2,000 each will be distributed across Dacotah Bank’s market areas, which span three states: South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Dakota Indian Foundation    
At the heart of Dakota Indian Foundation is a belief that education is essential to making life better for future generations. Each semester, approximately 100 students receive a scholarship to support their collegiate studies. Students must be enrolled in a South Dakota tribe, have attended a college or university on a full-time basis, and carry a minimum grade point average.
Spring Semester Deadline:  January 15
Fall Semester Deadline: August 1

DSG (Dakota Supply Group) Education Connection Scholarship
The DSG Education Connection Fund is providing multiple scholarships to individuals who are pursuing an education and a career in the trade industries throughout DSG's service area.

First Community Credit Union (FCCU) Scholarship
This year FCCU will be funding approximately $65,000 in scholarships.  FCCU will award nine $5,000 scholarships and six $2,500 scholarships, which are $1,250 per year.  There are fifteen dedicated scholarships available for the schools in which FCCU has branch locations.

Foundation for Rural Services Scholarships
The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school.  To be eligible, applicants must partner with an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company. 
Applications must be submitted by February 14, 2025 at 10:59 p.m. CST. 

Hess JET Positions
JET provides individuals with the opportunity to job shadow, intern, and apprentice in oil and gas production careers. The program introduces them to professions that are crucial in our industry, inspires individuals to be problem solvers in their approach to work, and encourages the transfer of knowledge and skills between expert employees and the individual.

Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Foundation Scholarship
The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Foundation is an educational, research, and charitable organization serving the metal forming and fabricating industry.


Helen Bergstrom Ernst Scholarship
The Helen Bergstrom  Ernst Scholarship Trust was established by the Will of Helen Bergstrom Ernst to further the education of students who are members of The Spirit Lake Tribe. Helen was born and raised in St. Paul, MN but became fascinated with the Lake Region when her brother Arthur Bergstrom moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1919 and founded Lake Chevrolet in 1923. When Helen came to visit her brother, she developed a deep and abiding love for the people of the Lake Region and especially for the members of the Spirit Lake Tribe. She admired the spirit of the people. As a result of her love, this scholarship trust was established. 
Applications will be accepted starting July 1st and the deadline is the last Friday of September of each year. 

Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship
Receive up to $2,500 to pursue Career & Technical Education. Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited community college or technical school in the United States. The application for the National Career & Technical program is open annually from March 15 to June 15.

Indian Health Service Scholarships
Three scholarships will be awarded to American Indian or Alaska Native students in order to educate and train health professionals to staff Indian health programs.

Jeannette Rankin Foundation Scholarship

Continuing Jeannette Rankin’s commitment to creating better futures for American women, our Jeannette Rankin National Scholar Grant provides unrestricted non-tuition funding and support to women and non-binary students across the country. National Scholar Grant recipients are age 35 or older, demonstrate financial need, and are pursuing a technical or vocational education, an associate’s degree, or a first bachelor’s degree at an accredited U.S. institution.  Scholar Grants are up to $2,500 annually, distributed directly to recipients and are renewable for up to five years. Application closes on February 16, 2025

Larks Community FUNd Scholarship
The Larks Community FUNd is awarding scholarships to high school seniors or those attending college who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports, events and entertainment field. We want to empower students to use FUN to make a DIFFERENCE as they learn and grow in these evolving industries.

Last Mile Education Fund (Cybersecurity and Information Technology BAS Students) Last Mile Education Fund collaborates with investors and partners to fill critical financial gaps for post-secondary students pursuing tech and engineering degrees. Awards are made available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are subject to review by the Last Mile Education Fund and our investment partners. Funding availability for Cybersecurity and Information Technology BAS students.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
The scholarship foundation awards scholarships to active duty or reserve U.S. Marine or children of active duty or reserve U.S. Marine. Students who already have their first undergraduate degree, or are pursuing their second bachelor's degree, or attending graduate school of any kind, or attending Federal Reserve Academics are not eligible.

Native American Scholarship
The Native American scholarship program was established to provide scholarship awards to Indian students who qualify through an application procedure. The scholarship program provides awards to qualifying undergraduate or graduate students admitted to any institution of higher learning or state career and technical education program within the state. A student may qualify for an award by demonstrating academic merit, or by demonstrating financial need. Students can earn up to $2,000 in scholarship funding per year. Recipients must maintain GPAs of 2.0 or higher.

ND Academic and ND Career & Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship
These scholarships were created to encourage and reward high school students for taking challenging coursework in preparation for attending a college or university within North Dakota. The scholarships can be used at state-accredited public, private, tribal or proprietary institutions with a physical presence in the state.

ND Association of Counties/ILG Scholarship
The NDACo scholarship program was created in 1998 to assist county families afford college. Children and grandchildren of county officials and employees who are entering or already engaged in undergraduate studies or pursuing technical post-secondary education are eligible to apply. This includes step-family members. The scholarship fund is supported by county donors from across the state and corporate sponsors like Nationwide Retirement Solutions.

ND Association of General Contractors
The Associated General Contractors of North Dakota has scholarships available for High School Seniors.   These scholarships are for the 2025-2026 school year. Programs eligible include Electric Power Technology, Engineering Technology, Land Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Electrician, and Instrumentation and Control Technology. 
Deadline: April 23, 2025

ND Association of the Blind (NDAB) Scholarship Program
All applicants must have a visual impairment that cannot be corrected with prescription glasses or contacts. 
Applicants must be residents of North Dakota or a border city, such as Fargo-Moorhead or Grand Forks-East Grand Forks.
Applicants for the $2,000 scholarship should be full-time students with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4-point scale. Applicants for the $1,000 scholarships may be part-time students. 
Applicants need not be members of NDAB to apply. 
All applicants will receive the current year’s membership, if not already a NDAB member. As a member, you will receive issues of both The Promoter and the ACB Braille Forum newsletters to keep you informed of advocacy efforts, new technologies and special events. You will also receive invitations to the NDAB State Convention and our adult summer camp. 
Applications must be postmarked no later than March 15th each year.
 

ND Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society
This scholarship is to provide assistance to an undergraduate student enrolled in conservation or a conservation related curriculum at a two-year or four-year accredited institution of higher education in North Dakota. Scholarship award is $1,000 plus a one year membership to the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

ND Community Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships are listed geographically and alphabetically. Each scholarship has its own set of specific eligibility requirements, preferences, and priorities.

ND Dollars for Scholars
The vision of North Dakota Dollars for Scholars is to encourage postsecondary education attendance for all North Dakota students. North Dakota Dollars for Scholars is a statewide chapter providing scholarships to students from Dollars for Scholars communities. Each year, the organization strives to award over $100,000 to deserving students.

ND Dual Credit Tuition
This scholarship rewards college students for taking dual-credit coursework as high school students.  To qualify, students must meet the eligibility criteria, complete an application with the ND University System (NDUS), and provide all supporting documentation.

ND Petroleum Foundation: Al Golden Scholarship
The Al Golden Memorial Scholarship Fund, named after North Dakota oil pioneer and the first member of the North Dakota Petroleum Council’s Hall of Fame Al Golden, was established in 2008 to support students who are pursuing post-secondary education at a North Dakota college or university in geology, engineering, processing plant technology, science, technical skills or other careers related to the oil and gas industry. The scholarships are part of the oil and gas industry’s efforts to help solve growing workforce demands in North Dakota. The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation awards 10 scholarships of up to $2,000 each school year. Application deadline: June 1, 2025 

ND Scholars
This program provides merit-based, full-tuition scholarships to qualifying North Dakota high school graduates who choose to earn undergraduate degrees in North Dakota. 


North Dakota Association of County Engineers (NDACE)
In 1999, NDACE began giving out one scholarship in the amount of $500. Since that time, the scholarship has received great support from the Members of the Association and from our Vendor Sponsors so NDACE is now able to award three scholarships; two $2,000 scholarships and one $2,500 scholarship (Forest Jennings Scholarship Award).
Scholarships are available to college students in their second year or above who are attending any North Dakota institution and are majoring in any of the following programs: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or Construction Management Technology. The Forest Jennings Scholarship Award will be given to the highest scoring applicant. Half time students are eligible to apply.
Deadline: December 31 of each year

Nyal Brings Scholarship 
The scholarship program is established for the further educational advancements of aspiring Native American students, with priority given to those of Sioux heritage.

PEO Scholarship
P.E.O. Sisterhood sponsors no less than six international philanthropies or projects designed to assist women with their educational goals.

P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education
The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE) is a need-based grant program providing one-time financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification.

Rees Scholarship Foundation
The Rees Scholarships were created to assist with the education of future HVACR and water heating technicians. Twice each year the foundation awards scholarships of up to $2,000 each to qualified students who are enrolled in an HVACR program at an accredited institution.

Sanford BSC Partnership
Bismarck State College and Sanford Health have partnered to support students pursuing careers in healthcare. Through this collaboration, eligible students in select healthcare programs can receive financial assistance and explore career pathways with Sanford Health. Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship
The Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship is awarded to any veteran, Guard/Reserve, or active duty military service member who has demonstrated exceptional character and leadership in furthering their own progress and in enriching the lives of others, especially in service, academics, and community involvement.
Application Deadline: September 30th.

Scholarship America Scholarships
Scholarship America's mission is to mobilize America through scholarships and educational support to make postsecondary success possible for all students.

Schneider Electric EcoXpert SkillPointe Scholarship
The Schneider Electric SkillPointe EcoXpert Scholarship offers $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing careers in energy, building automation, and related fields. This scholarship, awarded by the SkillPointe Foundation, is open to students enrolled in technical programs that align with Schneider Electric's EcoXpert mission to advance energy efficiency and sustainability.

Standing Rock Tribal Scholarship
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's Scholarship Program assists with financial aid for eligible enrolled members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe seeking certificates, associate & bachelor's degrees, and graduate degrees to pursue individual careers and to contribute to the advancement of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Veteran Volunteer Scholarship
One outstanding applicant will receive the top scholarship of $20,000 to help fund their education. Additional scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $15,000, $10,000, $7,500, and $5,000. The scholarship is open to volunteers age 21 or younger who have contributed a minimum of 100 hours credited through DAV or DAV Auxiliary.
