Bismarck State College (BSC) Theatre invites audiences to step into the charming chaos of Highbury with its upcoming production of Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, “Emma.” Showtimes are Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 5–7 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m., in the Sidney J. Lee Auditorium, located in Schafer Hall on the BSC campus.

Kate Hamill’s reimagining of “Emma” captures the humor, complexity and heart of Austen’s story while following Emma Woodhouse’s well-meaning yet misguided attempts to orchestrate the love lives of those around her. But beneath the surface of matchmaking antics lies a profound journey of growth and self-awareness, where Emma learns as much about herself as she does about others.

BSC’s production of “Emma” brings a fast-paced, comedic twist to Austen’s timeless tale of matchmaking and self-discovery. “This adaptation embraces the fun and chaos of Austen’s world while staying true to her sharp wit and social observation,” says the production’s director, Brittany Bearsheart. “The script’s humor and relatability allow the characters to come to life in exciting, vibrant ways, offering the audience both entertainment and reflection.”
