Merit Pages
Your Merit page gives you the recognition you deserve for the great achievements you make.
Bismarck State College uses Merit pages to publicize student achievements inside and outside of the classroom. Students receive recognition when they make the President's Honor Roll, earn academic and athletic achievements, study abroad, win awards in their area of study and much more. Students receive credit for their achievements and activities, on an online profile - a Merit page - that they can use for jobs, internships, and references after graduation. In addition, students can share their accolades with their friends and family through Facebook and Twitter, and link it to their LinkedIn account.
How does it work?
BSC students participate in events and activities around campus and achieve great things while attending BSC.
BSC College Relations receives a list of students to be recognized for those achievements and writes a short article.
The article is published to the students' Merit page and the hometown newspaper of each student is also sent a notification of the achievement.
Students receive an e-mail in their school email account saying they were awarded a Merit achievement badge.
Achievement badges can be tweeted or shared on Facebook.
How do I claim my Merit page?
When BSC creates your Merit page, you will receive an email notification in your BSC email from the address
bsc.studentnews@bismarckstate.edu
. It's safe and not spam.
To claim your page, click on the link in the email to create your Merit account with your BSC e-mail, or login with your personal Facebook or Twitter account.
OR you can search for your name at
bismarckstate.edu/merit
. Once you locate your page, click on the "Is this you?" link under your name and enter your BSC email address. You will be sent a confirmation email with instructions to create your Merit account with your BSC e-mail, or login with your personal Facebook or Twitter account.
You can customize your Merit page by adding extra curricular activities, job experience and more.
Why is Merit important?
Merit helps employers find the "good stuff" about you, and it recognizes accomplishments with official college badges that show they're authentic and verified by BSC.
Your Merit page shows how The BSC Experience prepares you for a career, and makes you a valuable member of society and more attractive to employers. Your profile connects what you do in the classroom to the exceptional career-building opportunities you gained at BSC.
Your Merit page creates a positive online identity for post-graduation success. Many companies now research applicants online, and some have rejected applicants based on what they find. Your Merit page is a way for you to shine online.
What should I do if I can't find my Merit page or I think I am missing an achievement badge on my Merit page?
If you are having trouble finding your Merit page to claim it, or if you believe you are missing an achievement badge on your Merit page that other students have been granted, please email
bsc.studentnews@bismarckstate.edu
and let us know. We will dig deeper and help you out.
Not interested?
To opt out of the program, simply reply to the email you receive from Merit and ask to be removed. Or, email your request to
bsc.studentnews@bismarckstate.edu
. You will be given instructions on how to opt out.
